Dr Keith Hammond

Cairns Dentist welcomes Dr Keith Hammond in Annandale, for all their latest dental treatments and techniques, given gently by their caring team of dentists.

Dr Keith Hammond has been the Principal of Annandale Dental since 1998. There have only ever been four dentists since 1909 operating from the same rooms in the gorgeous old period building known as Goodman’s Building’s. Keith obtained Bachelor of Science (Hons) from Bristol University in 1970 and then via Marine Engineering and Administration with the NHS to a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at University College, London in 1982. His first appointment after arriving in Australia was as Dental Officer at Westfield Hospital, Parramatta 1982 – 1985. Then he worked in and around Sydney – Station Square, Macquarie Street and Paddington, until working for six years as Endodontist at the Government Employees Health Fund (located in the Haymarket). It was around this time that he had an epiphany, deciding never to use amalgam ever again! With this in mind, he became a founding member of the Australasian Society of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. In 2009, he welcomed Dr Patrick Tismo to the practice. Their mutual interests in general and cosmetic dentistry happily complement each other – Patrick being interested in Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry, plus crowns and bridges, Periodontics (gums) and Pedodontics (children), whilst Keith’s interests also include Endodontics (root canal treatment) and Oral Surgery (extractions). Keith is especially passionate about composite resin as direct veneers, build ups and restoring worn dentition. This said, it must be acknowledged that a visit to the dentist is not the most exciting priority for most people. At Annandale Dental we offer compassionate and comprehensive care to all our patients and endeavour to make the experience fun and worthwhile.
