After graduating from the University of Sydney 1997, Dr Elfar joined the Royal Australian Air Force as a dentist, where he was stationed in Richmond and Point Cook. Following his service, he moved to Armidale, where he worked for 2 years before moving to the United Kingdom for about 8 years. He spent time working as a school dentist on the Isle of Man and in a number of practices in the U.K.
